An actual conversation between myself and the father of our new intern at work:
Me: Are you M.F.'s Dad?
Him: Yes.
Me: So you are Mr. F?
Him: Yes.
Me (arm extended for a handshake): Hi! Pleased to meet you, I'm M's mom!
Him: Ummm...
Me: I mean SUPERVISOR. I'm M's SUPERVISOR. I suppose you would know me already if I was his mom!
All of my staff and clients: BWAHAHAHAHAHA.

You know. I didn't even think about what the dad must have thought. Do you think he might have thought I was, like, hitting on him or something?
He took it very very well. I'm sure he thinks his son is employed by a total airhead, though.
Ah, don't you just love those moments? Those milliseconds where you are blissfully unaware that you've said something completely moronic, but everyone around you has suddenly become quiet enough to have heard it all, and is now busting a gut laughing while you flounder to recover?
And yet, reading your story, I busted a gut laughing as I pictured all the things that ran through HIS head as soon as you said that!
