How many times should I be expected to hear an 8-year old sing:
"Scooby Dooby Dooby...Where are you-ee?"
Just that line, repeated over and over and over again, over the span of 5 minutes...before I freaking explode?
Seriously?
I'll write more about this later.

twice, and after that you get to EXPLODE.
at least that's the rule for Jingle Bells currently in use in my household. i just. cannot. take it. any. more.
happy new year mama xoxo
Try joining in. Seriously. It kind of helps deal with it and, with our lil' guy, it seems to take away the fun. I mean, if Mom is going around crooning "I goo-goo like your style" too, then how much fun can it really be?
I think the practicing patience part has to come before the joining in part, though. Like, I'm so worried about finishing whatever I need to get done, that I forget that I always have the option of dropping everything (more often than I do - not that I don't EVER drop everything, but I don't think I do it enough) and joining in or giving them the attention that they want.
There's a balance that needs to be maintained between my time and theirs, and I haven't yet figured out what that balance is. But joining in is an excellent suggestion - and being mindful of that balance is the key.
