Episiotomy May Not Help Most Mothers
Episiotomy May Not Help Most Mothers
Actually, in my eyes, the study says that episiotomies continue to be performed by rote, in spite of the fact that traditional wisdom has, FOR DECADES..no, CENTURIES, has shown that it is an unnecessary act of mutilation in MOST CASES.
may not help most mothers...shit. That's FUCKING rich.
Anecdotal addendum:
When I gave birth to my first son in a hospital, I was given an episiotomy against my will (it was among many procedures that were performed against my original verbal and written requests.) I tore through to my rectum. Yum!
When I gave birth to my second child at home, in an environment where all of my requests were honored and held deeply sacred, I suffered no tear at all.

Yes! She back and shoutin' it! Soooooo glad to see you and hear that you're still comin' on strong about women taking back the birthing process.
I'm gonna trackback to this.
Missed ya!
Hey, the fact that even WebMD is admitting that they MAY not help MOST mothers probably means there's some serious progress being made. They're hardly likely to go out on a limb.
Good to see you in blogland again, snookiepants.
Good to see you're back!
when i saw that "news" item it drove me nuts. gees, ya think?
it's like that "news" about women being better at multitasking than men because we use both hemispheres simultaneously - gees, i could have told you that. but i guess it's news - now that a man has figured it out!
ouch- Welcome back.
i haven't been able to leave you this trackback (or get through to you via email) so i'm putting it here.
Janine, I got you. I need to get my blogroll back in action so I can start visiting you regular-like again. It looks like you have come back with a roar, and I love your redesign.
Mquest, when are you moving your blog over to the fullbleed.net? We are waiting for you.
Ivy, it's good to BE back.
