Studying

April 5, 2006

I just walked into Monk's room to tell him that it's 12:45 in the morning, and I'm about to start my uninterruptable writing exercise and, really, it's getting super late and he has chess club in the morning...

And he interrupted me by saying "Exactly...I'm studying."

And I looked, and he had his Chess Strategies book out and all of his chess pieces and, holy crap, he WAS studying.

What the fuck can I say to that? Go to bed and stop studying chess strategies?

I just said "Well, whatever...don't interrupt my writing exercise. And goodnight."

ok, that does it - now, lady, you're going to tell me exactly who you paid to get a kid like that, because i want one and how dare you hold back on me!?

My mother used to force me to stop studying when I was a kid. I had a whole routine worked out where I would pretend to go to bed and then reconvene in my bedroom closet, which I had equipped with a desk lamp and a big throw pillow.

fiveblue - I would like to chalk it up to something special that I have done, but no. I think, in part, he's just really tired of losing games at chess club. His studying paid off, too - he won 2 yesterday, and had 1 draw and 1 loss. He wants to get involved with the tournament team now.

Zwich - You are so freaking adorable I can barely stand it. Hahaha. Literally a CLOSET studying freak. You need to move back to Austin so you and Monk can have some heart to heart conversations about what it means to be a brainiac.
